Illness

Hale Middle School

Hello HMS Parents and Staff,

I suppose the wonderful weather comes with a price. We have seen an increase in stinging insects during breakfast, lunch and recess. Any student can eat in the cafeteria, they simply need to notify one of our lunch monitors so we have proper supervision. We have also contact our pest control company who will perform and inspection this week. If you have any questions, please all or reply!

Respectfully,

Kyle Grady

When to keep your child home from school

If your child is unable to participate fully in school activities because of illness

When your child has a contagious condition or rash with an unknown cause

When your child has a fever of 100F or more within the last 24 hours when not taking fever-reducing medications

If your child has been vomiting or has had diarrhea within the last 24 hours or is unable to eat normally

If your child has been diagnosed with strep throat and has not been taking antibiotic medication for at least 24 hours

If your child requires medication for fever or ongoing pain relief

If your child has red/pink eyes with drainage

If your child has chicken pox, he or she must stay home until all lesions have scabbed over

If your child has active head lice, he or she must be treated and seen by the school nurse prior to returning to school

Coronavirus update:

Protocol A for individuals who test positive

Duration: Self-isolation for COVID-19 positive cases is a minimum of 5 days after symptom onset or a positive PCR or antigen test, if asymptomatic. Return to school: After 5 days and once they have been fever free for 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medications and improvement in other symptoms. Continue to wear a mask at school days 6-10.

Note: Return to school should be based on time and symptom resolution. Testing during isolation to return to school is NOT required.
